CONTEMPORARY FIGURATIVE BRITISH SCULPTOR ANNA GILLESPIE
Anna Gillespie (previously) is a contemporary figurative sculptor whose intensely emotional representations of the human form are made from materials as diverse as masking tape, bronze, clay, and fabric impregnated with plaster. Her sculptures express complex human emotions as well as her responses to environmental issues. The work varies in scale from life-sized, life-like masking tape figures presented in groups to form installations, to more intimate pieces cast in bronze, as well as drawings and prints.
TASTE THE RAIN
Artist Anna Gillespie - “All these works try to express a moment of connection to nature and this particular piece is about trying to draw the viewer into recalling what it feels like to stand out in the rain and engage their senses.”
Taste the Rain is part of an on going series of work using material that has fallen from trees: acorns, beechnut casings, leaves, bark, sycamore keys
