HORIZON FIELD HAMBURG, DEICHTORHALLEN, GERMANY

(27 April - 16 September 2012)

Sculptor  Antony Gormley - “This entire project could be seen as the translation of a vast painting into a literal sounding board for the spirit and consciousness of the viewer. There is no subject to this work other than the people who participate in and on it.”

HORIZON FIELD HAMBURG will provoke an experience of re-orientation and re-connection with walking, feeling, hearing and seeing.

Visitors to Hamburg’s Deichtorhallen will be confronted by a space that is almost 4,000 sq. m. in size, nearly 19 meters high and virtually empty. Here, a vast, black, reflective structure will float 7.5 meters above the floor, inviting adventure. The suspended, slightly oscillating platform exploits the structural potential and architectural context of the Deichtorhallen building, taking visitors into a new spatiotemporal matrix.

ZOMBIE HEAD

These bowling balls were created by the advertising agency at Jun von Matt/Elbe in order to promote Germany’s 13th Street horror and science fiction channel. The cut off zombie head designs were done by famous spray gun artist Oliver Paass, and took over 3 weeks to complete the actual art work on the bowling ball. [ Via hiconsumption]
