BEAUTIFULLY ELEGANT DANCERS POSE ALONG CITY STREETS

Australian photographer Lisa Tomasetti has worked as a visual artist and film stills photographer for the past 23 years. Her eye for cinematic drama comes through in her dance photography, a collection of images in which she is able to capture the beautiful elegance of ballet dancers set against the more rough, gritty urban city streets of Paris, Tokyo, and New York. young French photographer Valentin Messager (facebook) - “I use photography to convey an emotion, a message that I can not communicate with the illustration and painting or other ways that I use. For this photo series in connection with the galaxy, I wanted to represent God in its original state, as the creator of the solar system, and life in general.”

PAPERSKY BY FLORIAN MUELLER

Germany, Cologne based photographer Florian Mueller - “The sky is changing. Constantly. As if it was never satisfied with it’s design, it’s color, the shape and texture of the clouds. Like a writer who is never satisfied with his sentences, words and ideas. Throwing away more and more crumpled paper, building a pile of lost and littered ideas. But sometimes it is worth to break out of this circle and pause for a moment, to dwell and reflect on rejected plans to build something new.”

THE SMOKLE

France, Paris-based photographer Stan Ng - “No matter how hard I tried using a pen to express myself, I failed. I am never a writer type kind of person. When I was little, I struggled to find ways to express myself until I bought my very first camera. To me, photos speak. Photos are a platform that allows me to understand myself and the world better. They give me a chance to see what is deeply hidden in my own soul. They bring me joy; evoke my emotions; and ask questions forcing me to reflect on the world around us.”

THE ARTIST’S STUDIO

The Artistic Nude by Mark Arbeit

Arbeit chose to bring the female nude back to the atelier when he made ‘The Artist’s Studio’ series. In this he combines the atelier and the female nude and studies both intimately. “This natural light draws the human form so well,” he explains. As an assistant to Irving Penn and Helmut Newton in the ’70s, Mark Arbeit learned the most important lesson of his career: “”Light is photography,” he says. “Newton taught me never be afraid to shoot in low light — it could create something unexpected.” From Penn, he learned the art of indirect light. For a photographer obsessed with natural light, the atelier is a sort of holy grail. “The idea is almost 200 years old,” says Arbeit. “It’s a studio designed so a sculptor or painter can work with consistent light.” The sun traveling east to west never changes this indirect light. “Penn gave me the idea to use this space for photography.”
