FLORAL SKULL LEATHER SCULPTURE
Artist Jacky Tsai - “Born in Shanghai, in 1984, Jacky Tsai came to London after completing a BA at the China Academy of Art to study at Central St Martins, quickly making an impact on the fashion world with his iconic Floral Skull design made for Alexander McQueen. Tsai’s vision is to create an unique marriage between traditional Eastern craftsmanship with contemporary Western pop art. His time at McQueen, where he worked in pattern design for the brand, created a fascination with fashion and textiles. Printing his striking images on silk, rather than paper, saw his floral skull image achieve critical acclaim.” (more)
SKULL SUGARED IV BY JIRI GELLER
Strongly inspired by pop culture, Finnish artist Jiri Geller - “While - not inaccurately - self-defining as “an outsider, a punk rocker”, Geller is also the rare Finnish artist who has both managed to stay close to Finnish aesthetic strengths and traditions and also detonate his own unique brand of post-national, mind-fucker nihilism.”
WAKING THE DEAD
NEW YORK, NY (December 8th, 2012) - Last Rites Gallery presents Waking the Dead, new works by Chris Haas, in what will be his first solo show at the gallery.
Waking the Dead includes nine artistically and uniquely rendered animal skulls that even after death, transpose life and take on a newfound beauty and purpose. In this exhibition, Haas’ skulls are wide-ranging species collected from various parts of the globe and decorated with thoughtful, revered precision resulting in an elegant homage to the animal itself and ever present, cycle of life. Haas work reminds us of the transience of life and that even beauty and sacredness follow all living things beyond the material world.

GOLDEN BOY BY BELLINO ALAIN
France, Nice-based sculptor Bellino Alain (facebook | behance)- Thirty years of restoration of bronzes and jewelry culminated in the practice of sculpture in bronze. My technique is special because I reuses the antiques ornaments and give them volume and a new meaning. (previously)
CALAVERA
Day of the Dead Skulls, personal work to welcome the fated year of 2012.
Artist ZSO (Sara Blake) - I’m an illustrator, designer, and fine artist living and loving in New York City. ZSO (pronounced |zō|) is a collection of letters that I find aesthetically and phonetically beautiful, culled together from some personally significant people, places, and things. Together they make sound much like “so,” the adverb which means “to such a great extent.” I am a person of extremes, for better or worse (most often the latter), so the ring of it was fitting, and the moniker has since stuck for good.
