RESIDUE BY LEANNE EISEN
Leanne Eisen (tumblr / flickr) is a visual artist based out of Toronto who uses procedure, perspective, and scale to re-frame her subject matter; often playing with chance operations, allowing for unpredictable results. - “In the series Residue, Eisen enters into dialogue with BP oil spill by relating the large-scale disaster in the gulf to the ‘minor incidents’ of oil stains on roadways caused by the individual citizen. These marks function as a metaphor for the effects and traces left by day-to-day petroleum usage.”
DREAMS
Alyssa Flavell - Dreams act as guardians to our sleep, as they envelop and protect us from our waking realities. Memories and traces of our previous day are written on our inner psyche, then partially erased during our sleep. Although we may consciously try to forget particular experiences, they lie dormant in our minds. I explored this shifting state between dreams and reality through the imagery of silken threads appearing yet simultaneously disappearing, protecting yet unravelling, as the dreamer encounters different shadows and illusions. Drawing on the psychological research of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, this series flickers with the rhythms of an intangible gestalt.
“LATTER DAY LEONARDO”
Artist Georgia McGlennon’s artwork
Artist’s statement - Drawing on the influences of both the contemporary photographer Annie Leibovitz and the Renaissance through Leonardo da Vinci, I sought to challenge the notion of originality and society’s conventions. Using digital technology and drawing on editorials found in current fashion magazines, I am attempting to question the development of religion and its relevance, or lack thereof, to a global consumer culture.

OUR DEEPEST IMPRINT
Artist Jordan Munns
Artist’s statement - Humanity is engaged in an insatiable pursuit for immortality – not to live and breathe forever but to be remembered forever. Long after I am gone is an exploration of our innate desire for our lives to leave behind a ‘legacy’. The hope of legacy gently places a blindfold over our eyes and whispers gently in our ear, poking and prodding us into creating and achieving. I explore the power of texture through the metaphor of bandage-like headcloths, digitally melding into statues and feats of architecture, while lion and leopard faces represent bravery and triumph. “TOORCI” [SHUTTLE ISLANDS]
Artist Marcella Campa & Stefano Avesani | Instant Hutong
Shuttle islands is a set of space devices to play with the elements that make up the city environment. They will pop up on walkways, hide in a park, be on display in a shop, floating in the middle of a lake, to question and influence the perception of spaces from unpredicted points of view. [more]
Artist Ian Haig - Chronicles of the New Human Organism
“An uncanny and unsettling hybrid of future consciousness and mutant flesh, and therefore true to the real transformation of our times” - Erik Davis TECHGNOSIS
Imagine putting a video camera into the hands of a Death Valley outsider artist convinced that the mother ship is about to land at any minute, and that when it does a new phase of human evolution will begin. [V I D E O ]

UNTOUCHABLES RETOUCHED [vimeo]
“Almost unnoticed we have shaped a society without danger. Nevertheless things happen to us we can’t control. ‘Untouchables Retouched’ is a visual dialogue about re-balancing and re-valuating the beauty of vulnerability.”
